Alternative Medicine

As the most common treatments for hay fever contain drugs of some type so they carry with them certain risks.

More and more often people are seeking alternative methods of treating this troublesome condition. Methods explored includes herbal treatment using butter bur, reflexology, homeopathy and even rhododendron nasal sprays but it is acupressure that is the basis of the development of the Hay-Band*.

Acupuncture and acupressure have been used in China (and latterly Europe) for around four thousand years. The Chinese practice of acupuncture involves the insertion of thin needles into parts of the body along well defined meridians.

Western medicine now accepts that acupuncture has a major part to play in controlling symptoms of pain and is part of most NHS lead pain clinics.

*In accordance with the ASA and CAP it must be pointed out that the single point stimulation of the LI-11 point has not been clinically proven to relieve the symptoms of hay fever and allergic rhinitis.
